Same Sex Marriage Debate

Same sex marriage remains one of the most controversial issues in a lot of countries despite the fact
that some governments (Netherlands, Argentina, South Africa, etc) have already legalized it. Perhaps
these countries think that members of the LGBT sector should be given the same freedom and rights as
those from the heterosexual race. At the same time, there are political, moralist, and religious groups
that stand firm against gay marriage simply because it is against the moral standards. Religion has
always stood in the way of homosexuality, condemning homosexual relationship, speaking of same sex
relationship as evil or contemptible.

It’s absurd that when two men love each other, our sanctimonious folks can only think of two men
sucking each other’s dick or engaging in “unusual” sex, something that has always been regarded as vile.
Nothing much is said about two people sharing a meaningful relationship.

Homosexual marriage remains a heated debate in many countries. It’s not legal in most countries for the
reasons we already know but don’t quite understand. It so happens that we’re in a free world and yet
we’re still under the grip of some sectors.

Why can’t two people who love each other be wed if they’re both females or both males? And why can’t
some people respect the fact that the love shared by two men or two women for each other is the same
kind of love that a man and a woman feel for each other?

Gay marriage is legal in California (again) and conservative Christian groups are trying to make it illegal (again). Sex toys are banned in Alabama, while Texas only legalised them in 2008. Why is the USA – which supposedly prides itself on ‘liberty and justice for all’ – so un-libertarian about sexuality?
