It is unavoidable that a couple will experience boredom with their relationship at some point.
Sometimes boredom creeps in slowly between the couple, while at other times one partner will just find
him- or herself hard to get excited about the relationship.
Some signs that a person is bored with his or her relationship are:
- Doing other things to avoid spending time with one’s partner
- Loss of physical attraction and desire to be intimate
- One would rather spend time with other people
- Continuously entertaining thoughts of having an affair
- Feeling no responsibility for the relationship
Though it may seem easy to just break off the relationship when boredom hits, it is just the worst thing
to do. With proper communication, boredom can be resolved (or at the very least, an amiable breakup
can be negotiated).
The reasons while boredom happens are actually often also its signs. To address boredom in a
relationship, both partners should look what is the start of the problem: are they too busy with their
different lives? Are there other romantic interests around? Are they not spending enough time with
their partner?
To overcome boredom, each partner should make an effort to make the other interested with him or
her and in the fate of the relationship. This can be done when both are doing something new together
or even simply by remembering why each have fallen in love with the other in the first place.
Boredom is something that any couple escape at some point in the relationship, this situation occurs most often at weddings, retreats or long engagements, but it can happen to couples who are just beginning to be known.
