Preventing Sex Toys Yeast Infections
Did you know that it is possible to get a yeast infection from your sex toys? A yeast infection is a common but bothersome problem for many women. It occurs when there is an imbalance of the natural yeast in the vagina. It can cause redness, itching and other discomforts. It can sometimes cause painful urination as well.
Some people worry that their anal sex toys can contribute to or cause yeast infections and there is some truth to this, at least to a certain extent. If you used the toy while you had a yeast infection and then use it again later, it could contribute to your infection or increase your chances of getting it back again.
If you share sex toys, it can increase your chances of developing a yeast infection as well as increases your chances of getting a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
In addition, if a female with a yeast infection uses the sex toy and then uses it on her male partner, it is possible, though usually unlike, to spread the infection to him as well. This is why it is important to use a condom on sex toys when you share them.
To prevent this, you need to clean your sex toys properly after each and every use. Cleaning them as soon as possible helps reduce bacteria from settling in the material of the toy. You should wash with warm water and soap or special adult toy cleaners designed for your particular type of toy.
It can also be helpful to use a condom on any of your own sex toys whenever possible. Some toys this will not work well on such as clitoral stimulators or your Rabbit but whenever it is possible, it helps reduce your risk of yeast infection from using the toys.
Remember that it’s not the toy that is causing the infection so much as anything that penetrates the vagina or comes into contact with the warm, moist areas of the body such as the vagina, can lead to an increased risk of infection. When you use adult toys, it can upset the very delicate balance of this area, especially in people who are already prone to yeast infections.
