Kiddie Characters Having New Looks

No one looks the same over the years, and cartoon characters aren’t an exception. Well, let’s just say
kids today are different from kids thirty years ago. Wait! Those were today’s kids’ parents. That means
the parents are going to tell their kids different stories. The characters, like Barbie and Mickey Mouse,
have been the favorites for decades, and this has never changed. It’s like we’d be seeing them in the
next decades and in the following years to come.

But their creators should agree that they have to keep abreast with what’s in and what’s new. If Mickey
doesn’t drop that 70s look, he might as well stay in the 70s. Kids seem to be harder to please today.
Probably because right now we have much more than cartoon characters to give us some pastime.
Thirty or forty years, we only had television airing a few channels. There were no computer games, no
iPads, no PSPs, and no internet.

Why do they have the change their images?

Well, these characters are just like people. People don’t look the same after 20 or 30 years. Also, as
mentioned earlier, image creators have to add modern elements to not make Dennis the Menace
or Bugs Bunny look outdated. They have to look hip and trendy, but the classic look shall always be
remembered.

The revamp of Wonder Woman, which will see the superheroine given leggings in place of hot pants, is the latest in a string of children’s character makeovers.
